MARION, IL (KFVS) - The Southern Illinois Miners will be collecting supplies for the Harrisburg Tornado Victims in exchange for tickets during the Home Stand at Rent One Park on Thursday, August 16.

The Miners' collection will benefit an on-going Back-to-School drive organized by the Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Ill. District students resume classes Aug. 17, while kindergarten begins Aug. 27. Any fans wishing to make a cash donation can send checks to Legence Bank, P.O. Box 297, 502 N. Commercial Street, Harrisburg, IL 62946 made out to "City of Harrisburg Disaster Relief Fund."

CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The Kinesiology Sports Studies program at Southern Illinois University will be hosting a Sports Equipment Drive through July 27.

Donations from the drive will be distributed to Carbondale, Harrisburg and Marion Park Districts to help support kid’s participation in a variety of sports. Donations need to be new or gently used sporting equipment and can include anything from soccer balls to football pads.

Drop off locations include Phoenix Cycle, SIU Rec Center, SIU Department of Kinesiology Davies room 107, Cross Fit So. Ill., Harrisburg Park District, The Center in Sparta, and John A Logan College (entrance by the clock tower).

CREAL SPRINGS, IL (KFVS) - The city of Creal Springs will be holding their USA Bicycle Race in the City Park on July 21. Things will kick off at 8:15 a.m. with a Bicycle Parade followed by a welcome from Mayor Joyce Rich.

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy a wide variety of games, a Cakewalk and a movie will be shown at City Hall beginning at 3 p.m. Many different types of fruit, vegetable and food vendors in addition to 15 antique and flea market vendors will be on hand. Guests can purchase raffle tickets for a Harley Davidson.

The public is welcome to attend.
