HRMC to host summer blood drive

MARION, IL (KFVS) - The Heartland Regional Medical Center will host a summer blood drive on Monday, July 25.

The drive will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third floor of the medical center in the Physicians Lounge.

Benefit concert for Take Back the Night

MARION, IL (KFVS) - Blend will perform a benefit concert for Take Back the Night on Saturday, July 23.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center.

Tickets are $15 and all proceeds will be to Take Back the Night. You can buy tickets at the center and Newstalk 1420 WINI.

Over 1,200 citations, warnings issued over 4th of July weekend

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says their Conservation Officers made more than 1,200 citations and warnings over the Fourth of July weekend.

IDNR said officers arrested 25 boaters for operating under the influence and five more people for driving under the influence.

Along with the arrests, CPOs issued 519 citations and 776 warnings statewide while on patrol from July 1 through 4.

Citations were issued for a range of offenses including possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, underage drinking and disorderly conduct to illegal fishing and other boat safety and boating law violations.

Ameren Illinois warns of possible fraud calls

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Ameren Illinois issued a warning Thursday of con artists trying to defraud customers and may be trying to steal identities by demanding payment by phone.

Ameren says the targets appear to be small businesses and residential customers.

“Ameren Illinois representatives never come to your business or home and demand payments or threaten to disconnect service unless they receive a payment," said Stan Ogden, vice president of Customer Service and Public Relations. "Our field representatives do not accept payments for service.

Weekly summer stroll in Marion

MARION, IL (KFVS) - The weekly summer stroll, bike or walk in the historic Tower Square will be Wednesday, July 6 at 6 p.m.

Participants will meet at the Marion Square to start the one mile event.

The weekly exercise will continue every week through August 1 ending in a 5K stroll on Saturday, August 13.

No registration or sign-up is required for the stroll. Refreshments will be provided.

Heartland Regional welcomes new Chief Executive Officer

MARION, IL (KFVS) - Heartland Regional Medical Center announced Friday they have a new Chief Executive Officer.

The new officer, Stephen Lunn, is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Moberly Regional Center in Moberly, Mo.

According to Heartland Regional, Lunn's accomplishments include improvements in physician and employee satisfaction and clinical service growth.

"I'm excited about this opportunity in Marion and being part of the community," said Lunn.

Before working in Moberly, Lunn was Chief Executive Officer at Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton, Ky. and Assistant CEO at Regional Hospital of Jackson in Jackson, Tenn. He hold a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Lunn will start at Heartland Regional on Monday, August 1.

General Dynamics receives almost $8 million Army contract

MARION, IL (KFVS) - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello announced Wednesday that General Dynamics Ordinance and Tactical Systems, Inc. was awarded a $7,066,000 contract by the U.S. Army.

The award is for the acquirement of 81 mm, M220 motor propelling charge.

“The dedicated employees at General Dynamics are helping sustain our armed forces,” said Costello.  “This is important work that also supports the local economy, and I am pleased that it is being done in Southern Illinois.”

The work will be done at the systems location in Marion, Ill.
