HERRIN, IL (KFVS)- Lutheran Social Services of Illinois' Prisoner and Family Ministry teamed up with Marion Federal Prison Work Camp Monday to give some old bikes a little TLC.
Once the bikes are refurbished, they're given to people who've spent time in jail and lost their license in hopes of helping them find work.
Organizers say it's a small way to help them get back to a normal.
"Giving back to our community in some fashion is something that we can do," says Pastor Jeffrey Gee.
"Different people have different talents that we do. and all of our workers are returning citizens, and that is really what made the program a go and then we got some people to help work on bicycles."
In the last six months, more than 70 bikes have been donated.
Many of them also go to the families of those who have spent time in prison.
