Traffic fatality on I-57 in Williamson County | News
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS)- Authorities say a Chicago man was killed in a crash Sunday in Williamson County.
According to Illinois State Police, it happened shortly before noon Sunday just south of mile marker-51 on Interstate 57.
Robert E. Mata, 42, of Chicago was killed in the crash.
Troopers say the victim was a passenger in the northbound car.
According to the crash report, after the driver braked after noticing a previous crash, and tried to slow the car down.
The car then spun out of control, skidding sideways off the road eastward, and struck a tree on the passenger side.
