Carterville school receives federal grant | News
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Carterville Community Unit School District #5 in Carterville will hold a news conference and reception to announce a $341,350 grant that is being awarded to the district from the U. S, Department of Education for 2012-2013 school year.
This is a three year grant and funding is available at similar amounts for each year for a total of over $1.1 million.
The school district says 77 percent of the programming will be funded by federal dollars while $101,486 (23 percent) will be funded as in kind contributions by our district and our community partners. The presentation will be made Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 8:30 a.m. It will take place at the Tri-C Elementary School Library.
This grant, entitled “Teams Connecting Links for Student," will fund an innovative elementary counseling program designed to ensure that all youth reach their full potential and attain competencies in academic/ personal/social and career domains.
Parents, staff, and over twenty community partners will play an active role in enhancing students’ skills. Additional details about the program will be presented at the news conference and reception.
Representatives from the community agencies, legislators, parents, and staff will be present.
