Man on four wheeler facing various charges after fleeing officers | News
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS)- A man faces several charges in connection to fleeing officers on a four wheeler in Williamson County.
Nathan Ellison, 29, was
charged with traffic offenses, driving Under the influence of alcohol and/or
drugs, and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. He was also being
held for the Franklin County Sheriff's Office on a separate burglary charge.
Sheriff Bennie Vick says his office had received a number of complaints earlier about a white male recklessly driving a four wheeler in the area and doing donuts in a resident's yard.
A deputy who was in the area says they saw Ellison driving a four wheeler on the roadway while drinking from a beer can. The Deputy initiated a traffic stop.
Deputies say Ellison stopped briefly and then fled from the traffic stop on the 4-wheeler, beginning a short slow pursuit. During the pursuit the four wheeler attempted to cross the roadway in front of the squad car, from left to right, and instead struck the front driver's side corner of the car.
Afterwards, the four wheeler stopped and Ellison, was taken into custody.
According to the sheriff's office, items believed to be from a burglary in Franklin County, an open container of alcoholic beverage, and a plastic bag with a small amount of suspected marijuana were recovered from the 4-wheeler.
Additional charges in Williamson County are expected.
