Bond set for Johnston City man accused of church burglary

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS)- A Williamson County man has been arrested in connection to a church burglary.

Jeffery Wayne Spiller, 20, from Johnston City was arrested Thursday on charges of burglary to a church.

According to the sheriff, Cana Baptist Church, on Route 166 at Canaville Road, was burglarized sometime in the early morning of Aug. 19.

Sheriff Bennie Vick says entry to the church was made by breaking a window. And items taken have been recovered.

Spiller is currently being held at the Williamson County Jail. His bond was set at $2,500 cash.

Vick says the investigation is continuing. Additional arrests are expected.
