MARION, IL (KFVS)- A week long memorial to the men who lost their lives on the battlefield during the Vietnam War wrapped up Friday with the reading of the men from southern Illinois who didn't come home.
The Vietnam memorial ceremony started on Monday morning as the sun was rising.
Throughout the week employees and veterans at the Marion VA Medical Center have read aloud the more than fifty eight thousand names of every soldier killed in Vietnam.
They didn't even stop during Thursday night's weather that blew through the area.
The final 82 names read Friday were all from southern Illinois.
The bugler played taps as the American flag was lowered after the final name was read.
