Marion man charged with child pornography | Crime
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - A Marion man was charged with possession of child pornography and appeared in court for the first time on July 13.
Brandon Scott Coffey, 24, faces up to 10 years in prison, $250,000 in fines and from five years to a lifetime of probation after incarceration if convicted.
His trial is currently set for September 10, 2012 in federal court in Benton, Ill.
The investigation into Coffey's case was conducted by the Secret Service Southern Illinois Cyber Crimes Task Force, and many state and local law enforcement agencies.
The case was brought forward as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide program to battle the growing epidemic of child exploitation and abuse. The project gathers federal, state, and local resources to find, apprehend, and prosecute child pornographers, and find and rescue their victims.
