Marion man sentenced to 3 years on gun possession charges | Crime
MARION, IL (KFVS) - The United State Attorney Stephen R. Wigginton of the Southern District of Illinois says a Marion man was sentenced Jan. 26 to three years on a one-count indictment charging him with possession of a firearm of a felon.
Jabari Z. Morris, 31, of Marion was sentenced to three years of supervised release and was fined $200. At his change of plea and sentencing hearing, Wigginton says Morris admitted that he had a gun at the Sports Blast in Carbondale on Oct. 9, 2010.
Morris was prohibited from having a gun based on a previous felony conviction for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Carbondale Police Department and Illinois State Police. The case was assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda A. Robertson for prosecution.
