Spaghetti dinner, silent auction Jan. 26 at Johnston City church

JOHNSTON CITY, IL (KFVS) - A spaghetti dinner and silent auction will be held for Cayce Buckner, Dakota Buckner’s father, on January 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church.

The church is located at the corner of Broadway and Monroe in Johnston City, Ill. Organizers say Cayce has been unable to work since May 2011 due to an auto-immune movement disorder. He will go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., Feb. 6. His wife Terra provides the family’s only source of income, and she will have to be off work in order to take him. They need money for transportation, hotel, food and medication.

The dinner $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and carry-outs will be available.

“The Ready Illinois website is a ‘one-stop shop’ for information on what to do before, during and after a disaster,” said IEMA Director Jonathon Monken. “Since the website was first launched in 2007, more than half a million people have turned to Ready Illinois for disaster preparedness-related information. This revision will help them find needed emergency preparedness information more quickly.”

IDES: Federal Emergency Unemployment will end for 90,000 people

IDES: Federal Emergency Unemployment will end for 90,000 people

(KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Employment Security recently announced an estimated 90,000 people who worked in Illinois will no longer receive unemployment insurance when the federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation ends December 29.

IDES says the state's Regular Unemployment program continues.

They say once the EUC program ends, an additional 2,800 individuals each week will complete the regular state unemployment insurance program and not have access to the federal EUC. Every $1 in unemployment insurance generates $1.63 in economic activity because the dollars are quickly spent at neighborhood businesses.
