ACS to hold kick off for 3rd annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event | Community Spirit

MARION, IL (KFVS) - The American Cancer Society's kickoff for the 3rd annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event will be August 23 at 6 p.m. at 17th Street Barbecue in Marion.
Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 270 communities to fund the fight against breast cancer. The Southern Illinois Making Strides walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 20 at the Harry L. Crisp Sports Complex.
According to the American Cancer Society, in 2012 about 25 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every day in Illinois alone.
