MARION, IL (KFVS) - The Miners game on Friday, July 29 will be FANtastic Friday and will include fireworks.

The Miners will be wrapping up their three game series with the Cornbelters. The game will start at 7:05 p.m.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Williamson County Sheriff Bennie Vick announced Wednesday the department will be taking applications for the next Citizen's Police Academy.

The free police academy will start Thursday, August 25 and will meet every Thursday night until November 10. The classes will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the class size will be limited to 25 people.

Class content includes:

• Discussions on hiring, training, equipment, domestic violence, investigations and crime scene processing
• Traffic enforcement and stops
• Controlled substances and gangs
• Use of force issues
• Firearm safety and familiarization
• Criminal law and court proceedings
• Jail operations and a jail tour
• Information from the Williamson Co.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - The U.S. Postal Service has released a list of 3,700 post offices across the country that could be shut down to help save money.

The Postal Service introduced Tuesday the Village Post Office as a potential retail replacement option for affected communities around the nation.
